Our project began in July 2016 in a small village near Amritsar, right on the India-Pakistan border.
We encountered an endless interest in learning among the children. An initial project was developed together with the children: The children came to sing with us every day.
Here, we organised regular school attendance for more than 70 children at a nearby private school. Since then, we have been working to ensure that more and more children can join our project and graduate from high school. In the meantime, with our support, the state school in the village has been able to admit many more children.
Our work begins with contact with the children and their parents: Through contact with the family, we ensure that they support their child’s school attendance.
Anand Jeevan e.V. organises, arranges and finances the school places, provides the children with school clothes, books and other materials, organises daily transport and provides afternoon tutoring. Parent talks and parent consultation days are held, bringing teachers and families together. Regular music lessons and other activities such as yoga, dance and cane art complete the program.
We also promote health and hygiene measures (such as improving the quality of drinking water).
